Hi Everyone,
As we sit in single digit temps here the Northeast, I thought it might be nice to look at some soft, delicate wildflowers.
These were taken along the roadside on the way to the Cape May Lighthouse in Cape May, NJ., somewhere near the Bird Sanctuary.
This was an example of some luck, in that I wasn’t really looking to shoot flowers at that moment.
But I happened to have my brand new Canon lens, which to me is truly an art lens – very open, very beautiful backgrounds.
And here was the opportunity to use it on some lovely subjects.
As you can see, there is almost nothing in focus in these two pictures, but I believe this is the beauty of it.
So much photography is in your face, high definition. I think photos like this are a nice change of pace.
Of course, there has to be a compositional focus to the piece, but the out of focus background can create magic.
Just open your aperture and have some fun! Don’t be afraid to give it a try.
I’d love to hear your thoughts….
