“A COASTAL JOURNEY” is my recently published book. It is a fine art coffee table book of my photography which features images of the sea and coastlands from Cape May and the Wildwoods in southern New Jersey, and the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
I’d like to tell you about it:
With some quotations scattered throughout to move the book along, “A Coastal Journey” takes the reader not on a geographical journey, but on a journey through time. It begins with images of a primordial landscape filled with ancient textures – a stark and windswept coast untouched by man.
The sun rises…a new dawn. Lush greens appear, the ocean roars. Very gradually man’s influence is borne out. A fence on the dunes, a pier… tire tracks. It culminates in the height of man’s stamp on the coastline – boardwalk scenes.
But the goal of this book is to celebrate the natural beauty of the Coast. And so the vibrant colors of the boardwalk turn to black and white.
One by one, the relics of man are removed. At the end of “A Coastal Journey”, we are back – full circle – to the glory of nature.
My goal for this book was to create a truly Fine Art coffee table book, and through it, tell a story with pictures. Some who own the book have called it inspirational, and even therapeutic.
Jack Wright: editor, publisher
“Follow photographer Kathy Fallon on a magical, inspirational journey through time in some of America’s most beloved coastline and coastland – the Wildwoods and Cape May in Southern New Jersey and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Witness the power of the waves, the drama of the dunes, and the seductive charm of the surf and the sand. A COASTAL JOURNEY is a treasure for anyone who loves the shore – and nature’s most memorable creations.”
I was lucky enough to have “A Coastal Journey” reviewed by top Amazon reviewers:
“This is the type of coffee table book that works its way into your heart and soul. For the person who longs for the sea this is exquisite.”
“Kathy Fallon is an extremely aesthetically aware photographer who has an advanced sense of detail. The beautiful cover of this book is only a small glimpse of the beauty within the pages.”
“When Fallon’s book arrived, I took it just to quickly browse through before the lunch, and when the food has long gone cold I was still somewhere in the first third, my mind far from where I was, walking similar coasts through my own memories.”
“The last picture in the book was my favorite as it is like something out of a beach fantasy or dream. The lavender waves roll in over a golden beach while fluffy pale clouds float across a wide expanse. So magical. This is a book to treasure.”
